Summary, in English

The report presents an analysis of how sustainable business models can contribute to the transition to a more resource-efficient and circular economy. It highlights how economic, political, social and market factors influence the development and scaling of business models that reduce resource use, waste and climate impact. The results show that sustainable business models can be strengthened through clearer policies, economic incentives and better market conditions, but that barriers such as regulatory challenges, short-term business models and lack of investment support hinder the transition. Consumer demand and public procurement are identified as important drivers. The report provides recommendations on how policy instruments and business strategies can be developed to accelerate the shift to a more circular economy. It is aimed at decision-makers, business actors and researchers with an interest in sustainable consumption and production.
