Project Leader: Martina Reimer

Duration: August 2024 - July 2025

Collaborators: Institutionen för Laboratoriemedicin, LU, IIIEE, Re:Lab AB, Region Skåne

IIIEE researchers: Carl Dalhammar

Aim: Region Skåne uses large amounts of plastics in healthcare.  The study will test Re:lab AB's innovative technology for gasification of the plastic, which is a promising technology for sustainable plastic processing. The technology enables the reuse of carbon atoms from plastic through transformation into raw materials that can become new plastic, so that fossil resources are saved and the burning of fossil plastic is reduced, with lower carbon dioxide emissions as a result. The project will evaluate the feasibility of the process, looking at issues like logistics, environmental performance, legal issues, and so on.
