Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)

The IIIEE at Lund university has developed three MOOCs in the Greening the Economy series. The original and first MOOC is called “Greening the Economy: Lessons from Scandinavia”. The second MOOC is entitled “Greening the Economy: Sustainable Cities” and it builds on the series. The third MOOC in the series is called “Circular Economy” and it focuses on sustainable materials management. The IIIEE is planning two new MOOCs: one on Sharing Cities and one on Nature-based Solutions in Cities. All the IIIEE MOOCs are part of the Greening the Economy series.

The MOOCs are free and have attracted over 140,000 visitors from more than 200 countries since starting in 2015.

MOOCs in the Greening the Economy Series:

1. Lessons from Scandinavia

How can we live a good life on one planet with over seven billion people? This course explores greening the economy on four levels – individual, business, city, and nation. It looks at the relationships between these levels and gives a number of examples of the complexities and practical solutions from Scandinavia.

2. Sustainable Cities

How can we shape urban development towards sustainable and prosperous futures? This course explores sustainable cities as engines for greening the economy. The course themes are sustainable urban transformation, infrastructure and planning, urban living labs, future urban visions, and sustainable urban lifestyles.

3. Circular Economy - Sustainable Materials Management 

How can we create a circular economy through sustainable materials management? This course looks at where important materials come from and how they can be used more efficiently, longer, and in closed loops through innovative business models, policies and local initiatives.
