Jessika Richter
Associate senior lecturer
Jessika is interested in policies and initiatives for closing loops in a circular economy, and evaluation of environmental economic instruments for a green economy. She has experience evaluating a wide range of policies including emissions trading, green stimulus packages, and extended producer responsibility systems. Jessika’s research interests also include consideration of policies and practices for closing material loops for secondary supply of critical and other raw materials from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). She is currently researching policy instruments for energy efficient lighting products and how questions related to design, disposal, collection, labels, procurement, and closing material loops can be addressed in a synergistic way. Jessika is also involved in teaching at the IIIEE.
Qualifications:
MSc Environmental Management and Policy, Lund University
GradDip Education, University of Melbourne
BA Environmental Geology and History, Lafayette College
Ongoing projects
Policy instruments and business models for closed material loops
The shift to energy-saving lamps has made effective collection and treatment of discarded lamps a priority to reduce mercury emissions. Knowledge about today's systems and experiences from similar products are limited and scattered.
