Contact your supervisors

Your supervisors will be the primary advisor of your PhD studies. You are entitled to have at least two supervisors – the main supervisor and an assistant supervisor. You may have more than one assistant supervisor. Please make sure to have a good introductory talk with your supervisors regarding the direction of your study, how you organise the next four years of your PhD studies, which courses to take and the like. You should also discuss how you will interact with each other – how often you meet, when, the role the respective supervisors will play, etc. 

In documenting these, you could utilise your Individual Study Plan, an initial version of which was developed by your supervisor when admitting you as a PhD student here. Once you start your PhD work, it is essentially your responsibility to continually update your ISP.

You will also receive something similar at the Introductory workshop for the new PhD students held at the Faculty of Engineering.

In order to enhance the consistency of the expectation between you and your supervisors, we encourage both you and the supervisors to go through and discuss an “expectation” table. Here is an example of such a table (requires login with your Lucat-Id):
