Study visit at a pulp mill to discuss recycled blended textile fiber

Visitor at industry plan

The spring semester course on environmental management in industry was kicked-started with a study visit to the company Södra Cell and their plant in Mörrum. Södra Cell posses valuable experience from a range of sustainability oriented business practices - and blended textile fiber is one of them.

Students from Batch 30 from the master's program Environmental Management and Policy have completed a study visit on the east coast of Southern Sweden. The destination was Södra Cell in Mörrum, one of the world's leading manufacturers of paper and dissolving pulp.

The students got to see environmental management and cleaner technologies in practices, and were also introduced to a Södra Cell specialty: the recycled blended textile fiber which is processed back into pulp for textile purposes.

Many thanks to the team at Södra Cell Mörrum for hosting us and for allowing us to discuss their experiences as well as questions for the future sustainability pathways.
