Low-carbon mobility & accessibility

One of the ongoing research themes at the IIIEE

Accessibility instead of mobility

A preventive and cost-effective approach for an organization to reduce transport emissions is to reduce the need and demand for work-related travel by focusing on accessibility instead of mobility. This includes the possibilities to meet virtually and to telework, affecting the need for commute and business travel. However, the rapid growth of digital collaboration tools does not automatically substitute or reduce the need for travel. Our research studies the complex relationship between various digital applications and their transport and travel implications, and how organizations best can realize the potential from their digital development.

Ongoing research projects on this theme

The IIIEE is currently working with low-carbon mobility & accessibility in a number of projects.
