IIIEE PhD candidate Jessika Luth Richter is interviewed for a podcast on the topic of ‘critical’ materials that are found in our electronics. She talks about what makes materials ‘critical’, their global supplies, their mining, and how little they are recycle and why. The demand of some of these materials for renewable energy is also discussed.
The podcast series is hosted by The Restart Project – a UK-based NGO with an aim to promote electronics repair. The IIIEE is working with The Restart Project, University of Limerick, KU Leuven, Fraunhofer-Institut, and Hub Innovazione Trentino as part of the REFER project – an EIT Raw Materials funded project with the aim to raise societal awareness about critical materials and electronics.
