On 29 November, the launch of the publication World Energy Outlook 2017 took place at Rosenbad in Stockholm. The annual World Energy Outlook (WEO) report is regarded as the world’s most authoritative source of energy market analysis and projections.

The seminar included a presentation of the World Energy Outlook 2017 and the Energy Access Outlook 2017 – From Poverty to Prosperity. This relates specifically to energy access in a global perspective, the global sustainable development goal on energy (SDG7) and interlinkages between energy and other SDGs, including gender, climate and health. The special report also highlights the possible pathways and prospects to achieve access for all, with a focus on the African continent.

Minister for Policy Coordination and Energy Mr Ibrahim Baylan hosted the event, and the report was presented by Dr Fatih Birol, Executive Director at the International Energy Agency.

From the IIIEE, Lena Neij took part in the discussion on the future developments of universal energy access, its connection to economic growth and climate change impact with contributions also from H&M, Sida and Swedfund.
