REFER Project educating about critical raw materials in electronics

repair_refer_project.jpg

IIIEE is a partner in the EIT Raw Materials project which is organizing community electronics repair events across Europe in 2019 to educate about critical raw materials.

Raw materials are crucial for maintaining a quality of life and for the transition to a low carbon economy, but many critical materials face potential supply disruptions in the near future. Many of these critical raw materials can be found in consumer electronics and electrical appliances.

The REFER project establishes a network of educational-driven, repair-based events across 6 countries in Europe, encouraging people to bring their small electrical and electronic devices to be repaired. At these events, participants can learn more about the repair process, the nature of technologies, the range and amounts of critical raw materials and how sustainability issues can be addressed.

As part of the REFER project, the IIIEE will be helping to organise a series of repair events, collaborating with local partners, in Lund and Malmö throughout 2019, see below.
