About the Hosts

Sofie and Steven recognised that much of the research conducted within academia is not accessible to the public. This is, in part, because the research that is published is not easily understood by a lay audience, which is then often only available to people and institutions that pay publishers to access this content. As such, Steven and Sofie sought to find a medium to communicate the ongoing research at the IIIEE in a way that was accessible and contextualised to a general audience interested in sustainability and the events at the IIIEE.

The idea of producing a podcast started after discussions between Steven, Sofie, and the former Director of the IIIEE at the department’s holiday dinner in 2017. Both Sofie and Steven have some experience with video and audio as a medium for communication. During Sofie’s time at university, she produced a radio show at the student-run radio station at Lund University. Steven studied meteorology for his Bachelor’s degree, where he had experience in front of and behind the camera producing weather reports for television and web.

Steven is a PhD student, researching sharing as a consumption practice, facilitated by urban sharing organisations. His research focuses on the design of sharing platforms. In particular, this approach will seek to understand processes for institutionalising sharing as a consumption practice. Steven is a graduate of the Environmental Management and Policy Master's Programme at the IIIEE (2015). He obtained his Bachelor of Science from Penn State in Environmental Meteorology (2011), with emphasis on the impact humans have on climate, air, and water quality.

Sofie is a PhD student, researching policies for energy efficiency in buildings. Sofie is a graduate of the Environmental Science Master’s Programme at Lund University (2013). She obtained her Bachelor of Science from Lund University in Environmental Science (2011). She has previously worked for Helsingborg municipality as an environmental inspector, prior to starting her PhD at the IIIEE.

Occasionally, the podcast will also feature guest hosts, which we will introduce during each episode of the podcast.
