Extended Producer Responsibility laws in crossroad : How much could they contribute to waste prevention and closure of material loops

Author

Summary, in English

Laws based on the concept of extended producer responsibiltiy (EPR) have been implemented now for the last three decades. While their contribution to source separation of targetted waste streams, their contribution to reuse as well as closure of material loops have been arguably limited, and their effects on upstream changes require further research. Improvement of existing EPR laws have been discussed in various venues and it is yet to be seen whether and how such improvement might bear fruit.
