What benefits can shared office spaces bring? New study based on a pilot project with public agencies

A recent report evaluates a pilot project involving four Swedish public agencies: MUCF, Naturvårdsverket, HaV, and Skogsstyrelsen, that implemented a workplace exchange program in 2023-2024.

The project aimed to explore the feasibility of sharing office spaces to address low office occupancy due to increased remote work. The evaluation, conducted by Peter Arnfalk from IIIEE and Anna Kramers from KTH, highlights several benefits, including enhanced resource and organizational efficiency, improved work-life balance for employees, and strengthened inter-agency collaboration. The report also identifies challenges related to IT security and the need for clear financial and operational guidelines.

The findings will be presented to the Director Generals of the participating agencies on September 6.
