On 21 October, the IIIEE hosted a regional seminar arranged by the Swedish Scientific Council for Sustainable Development. The council was established in July 2015 by the Swedish government to create an arena for dialogue between the Swedish government and academia, enabling environmental and sustainable development politics with a high scientific ground. The aim of the October seminar was to build on two areas of strength in the southern part of Sweden: smart cities and smart materials.

Present at the regional seminar was, among others, Karolina Skog, Minister for the Environment, and Prof. Lena Neij, Director of the IIIEE and one of eight members of the Swedish Scientific Council for Sustainable Development.
