New report: Guidance on evaluation with a transformative focus

vagledning_framsida.png

IIIEE researchers have partaken in the development of an interdisciplinary approach for evaluation of policy instruments and research initiatives, focusing on capturing transformative change.

The guidance was developed within the research project Transition Governance, which engaged researchers at Lund University and the Finnish Environment Institute between 2016-2019.

The report combines interdisciplinary and cross-border knowledge for evaluation of research and policy instruments, drawing from evaluation theory, transition theory, sociology of science, policy analysis and environmental psychology.

Building on this theoretical foundation, the Guidance proposes an evaluation strategy that seeks to support large-scale and radical changes in the energy system.

Although the Guidance is arranged around changes in the energy system, it is yet relevant for discussions about the evaluation of transformative change at large, not only within the energy system but in other sectors and areas of application as well.
