Associate Professor and IPCC Lead Author Luis Mundaca participated in high-level meetings during Climate Action Week 2016 in the United States, May 2-6. He first participated in the Universitas 21 Workshop ‘Informing Climate Action 2016’ at University of Maryland. This meeting brought together top scientists from Universitas 21 network working on different aspects of climate change mitigation and adaptation. The group of experts discussed current research and the implications of the Climate Paris Agreement for the future of climate science. He then joined the ‘Climate Action 2016 Forum’, an initiative convened by the Center for Global Sustainability that provided a discussion platform for advancing the climate implementation agenda. Finally, Luis participated in ‘Climate Action 2016’, a multi-stakeholder summit that took place in Washington D.C., just two weeks after the signing ceremony of the Climate Paris Agreement in New York. Together with colleagues from Universitas 21, Luis discussed and highlighted the role of academic and research institutions in implementing the Climate Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
