Nora Smedby is researching the role of public policy and governance in enabling (or hindering) a transition to a low-carbon, energy efficient society. She holds particular expertise in the fields of local governance, urban development and building energy efficiency. This was reflected in her PhD thesis with the title ”Local Environmental Governance Assessing proactive initiatives in building energy efficiency” which was defended in 2016.
The current postdoctoral research revolves around issues of multilevel governance, institutional economics and low-carbon transitions. Among her teaching involvements are introductory courses in environmental economics and lectures on sustainable urban development.
